Andrónico I Comneno (en griego: Ανδρόνικος Α’ Κομνηνός, Andronikos I Komnēnos; Constantinopla, c. 1118 – ibídem, 12 de septiembre de 1185) fue Emperador de los romanos desde 1183 hasta su muerte, último de la dinastía Comnena.

Sobrino de Juan II y nieto de Alejo I, Andrónico Comneno fue probablemente el miembro más brillante y fascinante de su inteligente dinastía. Su turbulenta y trágica vida destaca por sus aspectos novelescos de entre las de todos los emperadores bizantinos. Llevó una vida aventurera y fue proscrito, encarcelado y exiliado en diversas ocasiones. Hombre atractivo y elocuente, además de enérgico y valiente, destacó como gran general y hábil político.

Usurpó el trono a Alejo II y se convirtió en emperador a una edad avanzada. Su reinado comenzó bajo los mejores auspicios, y su recta y honesta administración fue muy beneficiosa para el Imperio. Sin embargo, su populismo y su concepción autocrática del poder le enemistaron con la aristocracia. Andrónico reaccionó imponiendo un régimen cada vez más tiránico y brutal, sometiendo a sus súbditos al imperio del terror y crueldad. La amenaza de los normandos de Sicilia exacerbó la situación, que acabó estallando con la aparición de un pretendiente al trono, Isaac II Ángelo, y un motín popular. Su horrorosa muerte marcó el fin de los esfuerzos restauradores de los Comneno, y el comienzo del declive final del Imperio.

Theodora Komnene (Ancient Greek: Θεοδώρα Κομνηνή; born c. 1145) was a member of the Byzantine imperial Komnenos family who became queen consort of the crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem.

In 1158, Emperor Manuel I Komnenos arranged for Theodora, his 12-year-old niece, to marry King Baldwin III of Jerusalem as part of an alliance of the two Christian states requested by Baldwin's advisors. Although they were happy together, Theodora wielded no power as Baldwin's wife, and was widowed in 1162. She retired to Acre, the city she was to hold for life as dower.

In 1168, Theodora started a relationship with her kinsman Andronikos Komnenos and soon eloped with him, infuriating Manuel. They wandered through the Muslim-ruled Levant and had two children together, Alexios and Eirene. After some time spent in Georgia, they moved to Anatolia, where Theodora and her children were captured and brought to Manuel. Andronikos and Manuel reconciled, and Theodora spent the rest of her life with Andronikos in Paphlagonia. She presumably died before 1182, when he became emperor.

Philippa of Antioch (1148 – 1178) was a noblewoman from the Latin East.

Philippa was the daughter of Constance of Antioch and Raymond of Poitiers. Philippa's siblings were Bohemond III of Antioch and Maria of Antioch. In 1149, her father died in the Battle of Inab, and her mother remarried in 1153 to Raynald of Châtillon. From this marriage at least one daughter was born, Agnes.

Philippa was the mistress of Andronikos Komnenos in 1166–67. After she was abandoned by Andronikos, Philippa married Humphrey II of Toron. She had no children. Philippa died in 1178. She was buried at the church of St. Mary in the Valley of Josaphat.
